Hello. Its 3.57 am and i am staring at my empty suitcase laying on the floor in the room, right in front of me. I'll be flying to Kelantan Darul Iman, which recently awarded the title Bandaraya Islam or the Islamic City.
I'll be there till Sunday for the second round of SuaRasa 2009 - Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
(sorry, the SuaRasa 2009 - Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu wan oso haven't posted. eeek! >.<)
A quick google on Google (weird. kaka.) revealed much about this North Eastern most state of Malaysia. Here is where PAS is the ruling party. And as such, there is no 'party' allowed. (pun intended. LOL)
Same goes for these: outright bans on the traditional performance of syncretic Malay theatrical forms, such as Wayang Kulit, Makyong, Dikir Barat, and Main Puteri. PAS also took action to vanish any sculpture that looked like human or animal, modified versions without the traditional references to Hindu dewa–dewi and traditional Malay hantu. (source Wikipedia)
No parties, no traditional performances, no dewa dewi statues, and best of all, no hantu. OKAY. Got it. Oh, oh.. not to mention, board the bus, eat at restaurant, or go toilet: separate male and females. Hey wait, toilet naturally MUST separate wan mah. Ish. what i tokking... LOL
I will survive this.... (future week seems bleak....)
XD
On a lighter side. I can't wait to taste the local food!! Nasi dagang lah (yummy favorite since T'ganu visit), Nasi Tumpang lah, NasiKerbau Kerabu lah, Ayam berGolek lah, Somtam lah (Thai inspired dish), Budu lah, and what ever sumore lah...
Doesn't it just makes your mouth water?! LOL
If that's not enough, i'm looking forward to see the locals there. Apparently there's alot of Cambodians, Thais, and mix people in Kelantan. Wootz... who knows, ill even cross paths with a pretty lil lady from Siam.. wakakaka... (cross paths ONLY, nothing else. i wana come back to KL wan okays.... haha). And i hope i get to meet up my UKM frens too! Calling calling them to the event.. wakaka..
And and, i almost forgot, i hope i get to buy some good andcheap afforable kain songkets or the like -- and what ever else Kelantan is famous for. =)
Seeing Kelantan for the first time in a long time (last i went was during my Year 6 so-called expedition to the North =S), would be such a thrilling experience -- i can feel it already! Actually getting to see 1st hand what we have been hearing about Kelantan, about gender segregation, race equality, and even the Islamic run state (Hudud Law! XD) should be interesting, no?
Trying to sepeaking the local languge will be funn too! Cakap will be come kecep and kereta api will be magically transformed to kereta lipang (NO JOKE!! Serious! Because of a train's likeliness to a centipede, hence kereta lipan(g).)
In Kelantan, every word which ends with 'n' will be cordially given an '-ang' or '-g' suffix. Just hope i don't make a blunder and say words that mean the total opposite. T_T
Oh well, wish me luck then. I just hope i don't have to wear a songkok during my stay there. That would SO totally ruin my hairdo. =P And not to mention i'd be sweating like hogs under the blazing sun. LOL
ps. should anyone need to contact me, im just aholler away k?
pps. do keep me in your prayers. thanks!
