Its been so much fun at the a ball, i almost forgot to blog about it!! tsk tsk tsk. Sorry yah.. the past week after the Viennese Ball has been busy+hectic+lazy for me.. And ive just learnt my lesson, abit abit if better than nothing at all!! SORRY to you loyal readers, for putting up with me and keep coming back! (^^)
Okay! Enough ber-derama.. It's the Viennese Ball!! Well, to start off, i cant even begin to tell you the fun i had!! It was FANTABULOUS!! You must attend it for yourself.. you must, you must, you MUST! (next year, perhaps. hehe)
I was selected by R.AGE to be a Debutante (say it with me now.. deh-beu-ton... haha). This is the video i sent in that made me live the Cinderella story -- except without the 12 o'clock curfew. :P
Being a R.AGE Debutant too, we got our outfits (i wore a dashing tuxedo) personally tailored by none other than the renowned Alvin Tay. More about him later, but meanwhile, check out his superb site, Alvin Tay Couture.
Now, at the ball. I think i'll do whats best at the moment: flood it with photos. k? :p
The events, in chronological order:
The Arrival.

The Debutantes started arriving as early as 3pm! The ladies came with their hair all done and dolled up. Gloves and crowns were distributed shortly after.
The Rehersal.

The 'us' during full rehearsal with the Viennese Orchestra.
(L-R): Aki, Jackie, Ian, me. Ian is the Star R.AGE journalist who writes fabulous stories about us and the ball! One heck of a happening guy!! XD
The Austrian dinner.

We were served authentic Austrian dishes; sausages, beef stew, and buns - white bun, brown bun, wholemeal bun! Coffee and tea on the house, courtesy of KLCC Convex.
Debutantes who were used to seeing rice for dinner, got a sudden rush of panic when they saw what was served that evening. Apa lagi? Bantai extra lar..! XD
The Germans (kids).

The Wait.

This was our home for the nest 2 hours. Many cam-whorred the entire time we were there. Some fixed their gown because it was too long, while other fixed their crowns. I found out, each crown would need at least 20 hair pins! Whoa.. suddenly im glad i didnt have to wear a crown. : )
According to Austrian tradition, the debutantes are not allowed to mingle with the guest before their debut -- because they must be formally introduces to society. :-D
So, the dress up, and subsequent, locking away. We didn't mind it at all! XD
The Cam-whoring.

R.AGE Debutantes: Andy, me, Mubaraq aka Hyper! (Now HE steals my limelight! XD)
Our Debut! The Viennese Ball itself!

Our grand entrance -- this is the Polonaise, the first of three dances we were to perform that night, which was followed by the Quadrille and the Viennese Waltz.
The Quadrille.

The fast tempo-ed and exhilarating Quadrille.
The Viennese Waltz.

And finally, the head-hip-body-booty spinning, Viennese Waltz. Don't we look pretty? :-)
The Dance Floor.

Then, when Mr. Reinhard Polt, our dance master, said "Alles walzer", which means Waltz for everyone, guests and debutantes alike filled the dance floor... Looks funn ringht? But its no easy feat, cause at one point, it became SO crowded, we kept crashing into guests and VIPs!! omg.. =_="
Austrian Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr. Dr Donatus Koeck said the same thing in the video interview by The Star. You MUST watch it here.
(NO, i'm, serious. CLICK THE LINK. NOW.) XD
World class performance.

The superb dance performance by ballet dancers Jozef Dolinsky and Raffaela Pegani.
The Royalties and VIPs.

L-R (Back): Reinhard Polt [Dance master], can't remember who. XD
L-R (front): Irene Haidmann [Viennese Ball Exec Director], H.E.'s wife, H.E. Dr. Donatus Koeck [Austrian Ambassador], Marcela Cerno [Opera singer], YAM tunku Naquiyuddin ibni Tuanku Ja'afar [Regent of N. Sembilan], Herwig Pecoraco [Tenor], and the famed Johann Turek [Pianist].
At 12 midnight.

The final dance of the night: the midnight Quadrille! It was so much fun because each Debutantes geats to dance with a guest, accompanied by the brilliant Viennese Orchestra. The best part was, the orchestra played faster and faster and we had so much fun trying to catch up!!
The Dance Master's Toast!

To show our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our very own dance master, Ace Waran, another Debutante for the second time this year, got the ball rolling to carry dear ol' Mr. Polt and parade around the dance floor! Even the guest were applauding as we circled the dance floor with the bug guy on our skinny shoulders! XD

Themed Salsa Night, the live band was serenading us with up-tempo salsa songs while other guests help themselves to free flow of red wine, champange, beer, and coke, as well as the same Austrian stuff they served us Debutantes for dinner -- sausages, beef stew, and buns! (Must be left overs kot.. haha! jk jk)
Everyone dancing like crazy on the dance floor! I helped myself to a few sausages and buns and a few rounds of

Guess who? =D
For those of you who watch alot of TV, or may be just the Amazing Race: Asia, S3, you'd probably be able to make an educated guess that the hottie im with is Bernie Chan! Yeaps, you read right, BERNIE CHAN! XD
Apparently, i know her neice and we just suddenly became friends. She's just so nice and out going, and she's HAWWWTT!! No doubt about that! ;-D
Oh, and about the results, i did ask her, at dinner. She simply said, "If i told you, i'd have to kill you!" Haha. See how friendly we've became? ;-D
...
Well folks, that's about it for the Viennese Ball KL 2008, in pictures. It was literally like a fairy tale come true... But i must say, it was rather shortlived. More on other hot, juicy stuff about the ball, coming up!
I just need to get some pictures in place, then i'm all set to go! I can't promise you anything, but one thing's for sure, this is NOT the last post about the Viennese Ball from me! Wahahaha..
Stay tuned! XD
